Creator platform fees explained: what you actually take home

By the Avatique team · Updated

Your take-home is what fans pay, minus the platform fee, minus any payment-processing fee charged on top, minus payout fees. On Avatique the 20% platform fee is the only cut on sales (processing included), so $1,000 of sales leaves $800, and withdrawals from $20 are free. On a platform with a 10% fee plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing per payment, $1,000 in $10 payments leaves about $841.

The four fees that decide your take-home

Worked example: $1,000 of sales

One hundred $10 payments in a month, the same fans on each platform:

ModelFeesYou keep
20%, processing included (Avatique)$200$800
10% + 2.9% + $0.30 per payment$100 + $29 + $30$841
20% + processing on top$200 + $59$741

Small payments make per-payment fees heavy: at $5 a payment, a $0.30 fixed fee alone is 6%. Run your own numbers in the earnings calculator.

Where the money really goes

The fee pays for card processing, chargebacks, identity checks, content scanning, storage and video delivery, support and fan refunds when something never arrives. On adult-friendly platforms, card processing alone costs much more than on mainstream ones because of the higher risk banks assign.

How to keep more of what you earn

  • Sell bundles: one 3-month payment costs less in per-payment fees than three monthly ones.
  • Use pay-per-view and paid messages: they carry no extra fee beyond the platform's share.
  • Withdraw in larger amounts if your payout method charges a fixed fee.
  • Refer other creators: on Avatique you earn 5% of their sales for 12 months, up to $1,000 each, paid from the platform's share.
